The Language Center (TLC) is a language school whose main objective is to teach languages thereby fostering friendships between people of different cultural backgrounds.

Our school traces its origins in Westlands, Nairobi County where in January 1981 it officially opened its doors to 15 students occupying 3 classrooms. The main courses offered at the time were English and Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics, a speed reading program.

Why English? The subject of English is vital for development in all other subjects, an essential skill for adult life as well as being a source of life-long pleasure. The organization felt there was a need for adults who did not have the opportunity to get sound education to learn the language. Foreign students from non English speaking countries would also benefit from the program. Over the years, The Management has added more languages to its portfolio, namely Kiswahili, Spanish, French, Chinese, Portuguese, Italian and a few of the local dialects. It has also incorporated young learners into the program.

Since January 1987, TLC has found a home in the tranquil suburbs of Kilimani Area on Ndemi Close/ Ndemi Road, Off Ngong Road about 5Kms from Nairobi Central Business District. The Center is fully registered by the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology.

With an initial enrollment of 15students, TLC has grown into one of the leading international language schools in the region with a large number of students occupying over 20 classrooms. Since its inception, the school has undergone a huge number of changes. Some of the most significant include additional classrooms, construction of a library that is well equipped, a lounge area for teachers, and a resting area for students that overlooks a beautiful garden. There is also a secure car parking area.

Inarguably, TLC has a long tradition of quality language schooling. Our highly qualified and experienced teachers have a very good subject knowledge which is used effectively to ensure that the students reach or exceed their predicted targets. Moreover, the instructors are native or near native speakers of whichever languages they are teaching. The classes are small and manageable to meet the needs of each student.

The founders have combined their skills and long experience to successfully set up and run the school in order to provide high quality language services and eventually be the leading language school in Africa as stated in their Mission and Vision respectively.
